Our partners
Vätternrundan would never be what it is today if it wasn't for our fantastic partners who share our passion for the sport of cycling.
Since 2004, SKODA has been the main sponsor to the world’s most well-known bicycle race, Tour de France. Now, the car manufacturer is entering as main sponsor to Sweden’s biggest bicycle race, Vätternrundan.
– Cycling is in our DNA, everything started with two wheels more than 119 years ago and today, cycling is still the perfect compliment to the automobile, says SKODA’s Head for Sweden Anders Bergman.
– We are very proud to get SKODA as one of our main sponsors, says Vätternrundan’s CEO Eva-Lena Frick. We see them as a stable and long-term partner with a good reputation, a strong backing and an extensive assortment of environmental class automobiles. Further, that the brand name has a star status within the world of cycling is a bonus.
Cycling is one of the cornerstones in SKODA’s global sponsoring strategy. This is reflected in the brand name’s 119 year history, where two of its founders, Vaclav Klement and Vaclav Laurin, manufactured their first bicycle already in 1895.
SKODA has just extended its agreement with Tour de France. These cycling efforts are now expanding even further with SKODA Sweden signing a two-year main sponsor agreement with Vätternrundan – the world’s largest cycling event with more than 35,000 participants in Vätternrundan, Halvvättern and Tjejvättern. In total, more than half a million cyclists have completed Vätternrundan since it began in 1966.
– Vätternrundan is for everyone. The event is open to all with a dream, a passion and a clear goal regardless of the conditions, says Bergman. It fits like a glove with SKODA’s values and reflects the philosophy of our founders to make mobility accessible to everyone.
The agreement between SKODA Sweden and Vätternrundan extends until 2015 with an option for an extension.
Vätternrundan would never be what it is today if it wasn't for our fantastic partners who share our passion for the sport of cycling.
